Viktória Maróti: Shelter 5 in interior

An artwork, an artist and an interior: in our series, we showcase contemporary artworks and illustrate how they fit into the interior. This time, we look at the alternatives for decorating your home with other types of artwork rather than paintings.

The art world is very much painting-oriented, but a savvy art buyer knows not to stop at just paintings, as there are countless incredibly exciting works of art in sculpture, ceramics and glass, for example. The excellence of these objects lies in their spatiality: viewing them different perspectives, you can observe constant change, harmony or even incompatibility of materials. They are in constant dialogue with their environment. An object like this on the coffee table, by the window or on top of a sideboard  adds structure to the room - linking together the furniture and the accessories in it.

Maróti Viktória: Shelter 5

To create this structure, we chose Viktória Maróti's Shelter 5, whose stunning form and texture resides in the reinterpretation of the weaving method, giving the object an unprecedented result.

In the process, the material of the yarn becomes porcelain, creating a unique work of art. The innovative technology experimented by the artist allows her to create structures, static play and variations that go against the qualities of porcelain. These undergo changes during the firing process. As a result, the artist's objects play with rhythmicity, while the continuous experimentation of her work encourages the viewer to explore the structure of the work, thus creating a higher level of perception.
